The Lowdown Verdict
Sedona's most consistently romantic restaurant. The grotto dining room — arched stone ceilings, fairy lights, wine list that actually extends beyond Napa — creates an atmosphere that no patio view can replicate. The osso buco is the dish to build the evening around. Book a grotto table, ask about the osso buco when you reserve, and bring people you actually want to impress.

The Grotto — Why It's Different
Dahl & Di Luca is located in the Tlaquepaque arts district, and the dining room takes the Tlaquepaque architectural vocabulary — arched stone, plaster walls, deep alcoves — and applies it to intimate restaurant seating. The grotto-style section of the dining room has lower ceilings, more enclosed tables, and the fairy lights that make this the most-photographed restaurant interior in Sedona.
Request grotto seating when you book. The main dining room is pleasant but it's a conventional restaurant setup — the grotto is the reason to come here specifically. On busy nights the grotto fills faster than the main room.
The location in Tlaquepaque also makes pre-dinner browsing easy. The arts village has galleries, shops, and a central courtyard — arrive 30–45 minutes early, walk the courtyard, then settle into the restaurant. It's one of the better-curated pre-dinner rituals in Arizona.
For a proposal: call ahead to request the most secluded grotto table — there are two that face away from the main room toward the alcove wall. The restaurant is used to coordinating proposals; mention it when you book.
The Food — What to Order
Chef Andrea Di Luca's cooking is classical northern Italian — no fusion, no regional experiments, no Americanization of the approach. The handmade pastas are the backbone of the menu, and the osso buco is the apex dish. Every component is made in-house, including the pasta, the tiramisu, and the bread.
The Osso Buco
The osso buco is slow-braised veal shank with saffron risotto. It takes several hours to prepare and is offered in limited quantities. When you make your reservation, ask if it's available that evening and if advance notice is required. On some nights the kitchen will hold a portion for you if you call ahead. It runs about $48 and is the most discussed dish at the restaurant.
The Pastas
The tagliatelle bolognese is the pasta to order if you don't get the osso buco. Hand-rolled pasta, 6-hour meat sauce, Parmigiano Reggiano. The pappardelle with wild boar ragu is a strong second. Both pastas are the kind of dish you order slowly, not quickly — the table conversation slows naturally.
