The Setting: Boynton Canyon

Enchantment Resort does something no other hotel in Sedona can claim: it sits inside Boynton Canyon. The 70-acre property is enclosed on three sides by the canyon walls — some of the most dramatic red sandstone formations in Arizona. When the sun rises and hits the rock, the light changes color in real time. Guests report waking at 6 AM to watch the canyon walls shift from deep burgundy to rust to gold.

Boynton Canyon is one of Sedona's four recognized vortex sites — areas where the earth's energy is said to be especially concentrated. The main Boynton Canyon Trail departs directly from the resort grounds, putting guests at the heart of the vortex experience without driving to a trailhead. This isn't just marketing language; it's a genuinely different way to experience one of Arizona's most spiritually significant landscapes.

The property is designed to minimize intrusion on the landscape. Buildings are low, the palette echoes the rock, and after dark the light pollution is minimal enough that the Milky Way is visible from the resort grounds on clear nights. If you're visiting Sedona for the landscape — not just to see it through a car window but to sleep inside it — this is the property.

Rooms & Casitas

Enchantment has 218 rooms across several categories. The critical distinction is between canyon-view casitas and resort courtyard units — and it matters more here than at almost any hotel in the country.

The interiors are comfortable without being ostentatious — Southwestern design sensibility, natural materials, quality linens. The rooms aren't the most technically impressive in Sedona's luxury tier, but nobody books Enchantment for thread counts. They book it for what's outside the window.

Mii amo Spa

Mii amo is regularly cited as one of the top ten destination spas in the United States. It operates as a semi-separate entity from the resort — guests can visit for the day, but hotel guests get easier booking access. The spa has 16 treatment rooms, an indoor pool, a steam room, and a sacred crystal grotto used in specialized treatments.

The treatment menu leans into Sedona's vortex and healing energy identity. Offerings include crystal healing sessions, chakra-balancing body treatments, and Native American-inspired rituals. These aren't just marketing dressing — the spa employs practitioners trained in specific modalities. A 90-minute Reiki or crystal grid session here is a meaningfully different experience from a resort massage at a coastal hotel.

Booking reality: weekend treatment slots fill 60 days out in spring and fall. If a Mii amo treatment is on the itinerary, book the spa appointment the same day the room is confirmed — or before. The spa also accepts day-visit reservations from non-guests at higher rates, so hotel guests have a modest but meaningful advantage in access.

Dining

Che Ah Chi

The resort's main restaurant takes a Native American-influenced approach to Southwestern cuisine. Expect dishes built around local ingredients — tepary beans, Navajo corn, Arizona chiles — prepared with fine-dining technique. Dinner runs $$$$, breakfast is $$$. The breakfast experience is worth the premium: watching the canyon walls change color over eggs and New Mexico green chile is one of the more memorable morning meals in the state. Dinner reservations are required and should be made at time of booking.

Tii Gavo

The resort's casual poolside venue. Lighter menu — salads, flatbreads, sandwiches, cocktails. Good for lunch between hikes or spa sessions. No reservations required. Quality is solid without being destination-level. The cocktail program leans into local spirits and botanicals.

Note: room service is available but does not extend to the casita terraces after 10 PM. If you want a late-night meal delivered to your outdoor space, plan your evening accordingly.

On-Property Activities

Enchantment offers a fuller activity program than most Sedona properties. Options include:

• Guided canyon hikes — Resort naturalists lead morning hikes on the Boynton Canyon Trail with geological and spiritual context. Complimentary for hotel guests.
• Archery range — A popular activity that tends to book up on weekends. Register at the activities desk when you check in.
• Stargazing programs — Sedona's elevation and distance from city light pollution make the night sky exceptional. The resort runs scheduled stargazing sessions with telescopes.
