Wahweap Marina (Page, AZ — Southern End)
Wahweap is the largest marina on Lake Powell and the most full-service. It sits within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, a few miles from the Glen Canyon Dam and the town of Page. The marina has the widest range of rental boats, the most slip rentals, a hotel and restaurants on-site (Lake Powell Resort), and launch facilities that have historically stayed usable across a wider range of lake levels than some of the others. Ramp availability everywhere on the lake tracks the reservoir's elevation, though, so check the National Park Service's current lake level and boat ramp status before counting on any ramp here.
Wahweap is the right pick for first-time visitors. It is close to Page (food, fuel, lodging, slot canyon tours), close to the dam and Carl Hayden Visitor Center, and close to the major attractions on the southern end of the lake — Antelope Canyon, Lone Rock Beach, Horseshoe Bend (by car). Most major boat tours, including Rainbow Bridge, depart from Wahweap.
If you want to land at PHX or LAS, drive in, sleep in a hotel the first night, and be on the water the next morning with the maximum number of options open, Wahweap is the natural choice.
Antelope Point Marina (Page, AZ — Southern End)
Antelope Point is the second marina on the southern end, sitting on Navajo Nation land east of Page. It is smaller than Wahweap but better positioned for slot canyon access — it is on the right side of the lake to reach the Antelope Canyon arm of the reservoir, and several of the upper-end slot canyon kayak day trips depart from here.
Antelope Point typically has a different mix of rental boats than Wahweap and is sometimes the better availability option in peak season when Wahweap is sold out. It also has a public-facing restaurant on a floating barge that is a destination in its own right — sunset views over the lake from the water-level dining deck are part of the appeal.
If you have already been to Lake Powell once via Wahweap and want a different feel for a return visit, Antelope Point is a meaningful change of base — closer to the slot canyon experience, slightly less corporate-feeling, and quieter at the dock in the evenings.
Bullfrog Marina (UT — Northern End)
Bullfrog is the main marina on the northern end of the lake, accessed via UT-276 from UT-95. It is much closer to Salt Lake City than to Phoenix or Las Vegas, and the drive in (through the Henry Mountains and the canyon country) is itself one of the great American road trips. Bullfrog has slip rentals, a small store, fuel, and limited lodging. Its launch ramp and the marina itself are both sensitive to falling lake levels -- the National Park Service has had to close the main ramp and relocate marina services into deeper water at low elevations -- so confirm current ramp and marina status with the NPS before planning a launch here.
Bullfrog opens up a very different Lake Powell trip than Wahweap. The northern part of the reservoir is less developed, the side canyons are quieter, and the houseboat traffic density is meaningfully lower than at the southern end. The trade-off is that the major south-end attractions — Rainbow Bridge by direct boat, Antelope Canyon, the dam tour — are far away by water.
If you are houseboating with a multi-day plan and want the canyon-country wilderness feel rather than the resort-town feel, Bullfrog is the launch point.
Halls Crossing Marina (UT — Northern End, Opposite Bullfrog)
Halls Crossing sits directly across the lake from Bullfrog. The two are connected by the Charles Hall Ferry, which can shorten the drive between southern Utah destinations when it is operating. Halls Crossing itself is smaller and quieter than Bullfrog, with fewer services but a comparable slip facility. Its launch ramp is likewise elevation-dependent and has been closed to vessels at low lake levels, so check current NPS ramp status rather than assuming it is open.
Halls Crossing makes the most sense as part of a longer southern Utah road trip — you cross the lake on the ferry as part of the day, launch a smaller boat for a paddle or short cruise, and continue on toward Natural Bridges National Monument or Cedar Mesa. As a houseboating base, it is in the same conversation as Bullfrog but with less of everything (boats, food, fuel, people).
Ferry status and schedules change with lake levels and season; verify with the operator before depending on the ferry to make a routing work.
Dangling Rope, Hite, and Other Historical Marinas
Dangling Rope Marina, historically the midlake fuel stop between Wahweap and Bullfrog, has been closed and should not be planned as a refuel point. Confirm current status with Glen Canyon National Recreation Area before any trip that assumes midlake fuel.
Hite, at the far northern end of the lake near the Hite Crossing of the Colorado River, was a small marina that has been out of operation in periods when lake levels have been low. Its boat launch and access have varied widely with reservoir levels over the years. Treat anything beyond Bullfrog and Halls Crossing as conditional and verify current status before relying on it.
The broader point: Lake Powell’s marina network has been reshaped by years of changing water levels. What was reliable in earlier guidebooks may not be reliable today. Plan around the four currently-operating marinas (Wahweap, Antelope Point, Bullfrog, Halls Crossing) and verify the current state of any other access point with NPS Glen Canyon directly.

First-time Lake Powell visit with hotel lodging and day-boat rentals: Wahweap. It is the most full-service, closest to Page, and has the widest range of options.
Slot canyon focus (Antelope Canyon, Antelope Canyon X, Waterholes): Antelope Point or Wahweap on the south end. Bullfrog and Halls Crossing are too far from the slot canyons by water.
Multi-day houseboat trip prioritizing quiet and canyon-country feel: Bullfrog or Halls Crossing on the north end. Plan extra time for the drive in from any major airport.
Combination trip with Bryce, Zion, Capitol Reef, or other southern Utah parks: Bullfrog or Halls Crossing, because the routing puts Lake Powell on the natural drive corridor.
Combination trip with Grand Canyon, Sedona, or other Arizona destinations: Wahweap or Antelope Point, because Phoenix or Flagstaff is the natural airport.
